Simon (Regional Director)
Simon has dedicated over thirty years to the independent education sector. A graduate of the University of Bristol, he has served in UK Independent Boarding schools as a Physics teacher, Head of Science Faculty, and Head of Sixth Form, advising over 150 students annually on university applications, including many who secured places at Oxbridge. He spent nearly a decade as a Boarding Housemaster in a co-educational HMC Boarding school before transitioning to Mainland China and Hong Kong SAR in a Vice Principal role, overseeing the establishment of four start-up British International Schools in the Greater Bay Area. Most recently, he served as Director of Marketing and Admissions at a UK International School in China.
Simon recognises the unique needs of each child and is committed to helping them reach their full potential, ensuring their educational journey is both happy and unforgettable. He takes pride in the success and joy of our students and the supportive relationships he builds with families.
Tammy (Senior Consultant)
Tammy graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Master's Degree in School Leadership. She has since accumulated over twenty-five years of experience in the international education profession, including seventeen years as a School Principal at various institutions in Hong Kong SAR. Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in developing numerous international curricula and firmly believes that a child who is happy in their environment is better positioned to adopt a creative and critical approach to learning.
Most recently, Tammy has been invited to lecture at several prestigious universities in Hong Kong, where she delivers a wide range of courses to PGCE undergraduates and aspiring School Principals on the Principal Certificate.

Jimmy Beale (The English Education)
select.ed works exclusively with The English Educatiion, one of the leading search and placement consultancies in the U.K. Founder, Jimmy Beale, worked in the UK private education sector for twenty years, having gained his teaching qualification at Bristol University. He worked in both single-sex and co-educational day and boarding schools; his last two roles were as Deputy Headmaster of a large co-educational HMC senior school, and then as Headmaster of a leading HMC co-educational prep school and an Independent Schools’ Inspectorate (ISI) Inspector. Jimmy retired from his role as Headmaster in 2013 in order to pursue a career in business. He launched The English Education in 2015 and co-founded APT in 2020.
Alastair Montgomery (APT)
The English Education’s Lead Assessment Consultant is the Former Director of UKiset (2014 – 2020) and senior director at the world’s oldest education consultancy firm, Gabbitas. Alastair was responsible for launching UKiset back in 2014 by working closely with assessment companies, Cambridge Assessment and the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM) in developing entrance testing for independent schools.
As well as designing and leading on The English Education’s unique Learner Profile Assessment, he is managing director of INTAC, an international network of test centres providing professional examination services for a range of assessments. Previously, Alastair worked in specialist learning centres for cognitive processing and SEND assessments, and as an assistant housemaster in a UK boarding school.
He has specifically designed the Academic Profiling Test (APT) to provide quality consultancy to parents and to enable professional, high-calibre conversations with schools. select.ed are the exclusive providers of this leading assessment test in SE Asia.
